About 3.25am, the 25-year-old employee was confronted by a man armed with a knife inside the Railway Street service station at East Corrimal.

The offender jumped the counter and during a violent struggle, the employee suffered minor lacerations to both hands and small puncture wound to his thigh.

The armed man ran from the store with cash.

The victim was treated at the scene.

Police established a crime scene and have seized CCTV.

They are looking for a man of Caucasian appearance, aged between 30 to 50 years, 175cm tall, of medium build, unshaven and wearing a grey coloured hooded jumper with his face covered.

Investigators are also appealing for female customer and a bread deliverer who were in the store a short time before the robbery to contact them. They might have vital information about the man involved.
