Police have arrested and charged a man following investigations into an armed robbery in the State’s Northern Rivers region on Monday.
Just after 6am (Monday 26 September 2016), a worker was at a bakery on Wyrallah Road, East Lismore, when three men entered the store, one of whom was allegedly armed with a knife.
Police will allege the woman was grabbed by the throat and threatened before a sum of cash and a charity tin was taken and the men ran from the store.
They fled the scene in a Suzuki Baleno, which has since been confirmed as stolen.
On Monday afternoon, police attended a home on Wyrallah Road and arrested a 19-year-old man.
A search warrant was executed on the home with a number of items seized for forensic examination.
The man was taken to Lismore Police Station where he was charged with robbery with an offensive weapon as a principle in the second degree and being carried in a conveyance without the consent of the owner.
He was refused bail and appeared at Lismore Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 27 September 2016).
Officers from Richmond Local Area Command are continuing their investigations into the robbery and anticipate further arrests.
