Police are investigating an armed robbery at licensed premises in Ashmore early this morning.

Initial information suggests around 3.15am a man armed with a shortened firearm has entered the business on Cotlew Street, produced a bag and demanded money from staff.

The man then continued to threaten staff with the weapon before fleeing the premises with a sum of cash in an unknown direction.

The man is described as approximately 170cm tall with a medium build and was wearing a black mask, black hooded jumper, long black trousers and black gloves with white skulls painted on the back.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen the man is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

No one was physically injured.
