Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a supermarket in Lithgow yesterday.

Shortly before 8pm (Monday 31 October 2016), a man entered the supermarket on Mort Street where he started pacing around the express checkout.

He demanded money from a female member of staff and had possession of a screwdriver.

A male employee assisted the woman by handing the armed man an amount of cash from her register.

The man ran from the store into a laneway heading towards Cook Street where he was seen to get into a white duel cab utility.
