Police are searching for a man who used a knife to try and rob a fast food outlet at Southport earlier this morning.

Around 10.30am a man with a stocking over his head entered the Frank Street business and made demands for money from a female store employee.

No money was obtained by the offender from the store however he did steal the female employee’s handbag before fleeing the scene.

He was last seen running west along Robert Street.

No one was physically injured in the incident.

The man is described as approximately 30 years of age, Caucasian with a proportionate build and wearing black trousers, black shirt and shoes with white on them.

Investigations are continuing.
