Police are investigating after a taxi driver was attacked in Essendon last night.
The 33-year-old male driver stopped to pick up a passenger after being hailed in Russell Street at 9.15pm.
The driver drove a short distance before the passenger produced a knife, held it to the victim’s throat and demanded money.
A struggle ensued and the driver sustained cuts to his hand.
The offender fled and the driver was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
Earlier that evening, police believe the same offender produced a knife in a taxi in Andrea Street, St Albans, about 6pm.
The offender, a man, stole cash and fled.
The 28-year-old driver was not injured.
Investigators have released images of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the robberies.
