Holden Hill police are searching for two men and a woman after a taxi driver was robbed at Modbury overnight. Just before 11pm (Sunday 18 December) police were called to a supermarket carpark on Montague Road after reports a taxi driver had been robbed by three passengers. Police will allege the taxi driver collected the three passengers from that location a short time earlier and drove them to Ingle Farm before they asked to return to Modbury. When the two men and a woman got out of the taxi one of the men produced a knife and verbally threatened the driver and demanded money. The three ran off after stealing an amount of cash. Police searched the area with the assistance of a police dog but were unable to locate anyone. The taxi driver was not physically injured during the incident. Police are still searching for the three suspects, all described as Caucasian and aged in their early 20’s. One of the men is described as being 167cm tall, solid build, wearing a dark hooded jumper and pants. The second man is described as being 183cm tall, slim build and wearing a dark hooded jumper. The woman is described as being 177cm tall, slim build and wearing shorts and a blue hooded jumper holding a she was also carrying a red handbag.
