A man has been arrested after an investigation into a robbery that occurred in North Adelaide a week ago.

Police will allege that at about 9pm on Monday 19 December, a man grabbed several handbags from patrons at a café in Childers Street, injuring an elderly woman whose bag he had stolen. The victim suffered minor injuries.

Members of the public followed the man and saw him drive away in a stolen car, and witnesses later passed the car’s details on to police.

The car was stolen during an earlier break-in at a house.

At about 9pm on Saturday 24 December the man was located by police and arrested.

The 32-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with numerous offences including aggravated robbery, aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle and property damage.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
