Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist with investigations into the armed robbery of a chemist at Mount Louisa this afternoon.

Preliminary information suggests around 1pm a man entered the business on Bayswater Road armed with a firearm and threatened staff before throwing an army green duffle bag on the ground and demanding pharmaceutical drugs.

The staff complied and the man took the drugs and fled the scene in a silver Holden Commodore sedan (pictured) driven by an unknown person.

The burnt out shell of the vehicle was later located by police on a track at the end of Bayswater Road.

It is believed the same car was involved in two petrol drive-offs earlier in the day at service stations in Bohle and Yabulu and was displaying false Queensland registration 665WCR.

The man (pictured) is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 182cm tall with a slim build and was wearing maroon or purple rugby jersey with long sleeves and white collar, black tracksuit pants and white shoes with a black Nike logo.

Anyone who may have seen the man or know of the car is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
