Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery in Coonabarabran yesterday.

Police have been told about 8.35pm (Monday 23rd January 2017), a 59-year-old man, and two women – aged 22 and 54 – were at a licensed premise on River Road when they were approached by an unknown man.

It is alleged the man threatened them with a firearm, before an altercation took place.

During the altercation, the man removed a machete from his back pack and swung it at the older woman, causing a small laceration to her arm.

The man fled the scene with cash and property.

It’s believed he may have left in a car described as a late model blue sedan with white coloured LED style headlights.

Officers from Mudgee Local Area Command attended and established the crime scene.

The man and woman suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

As part of their inquiries, police would like to speak to a man who may be about to assist them.

He is described as being 180cm tall with a thin build and was last seen wearing black clothing and carrying a black back pack.

Anyone with information about the man or vehicle is urged to come forward.
