Ballarat Crime Investigation unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify people involved in an attempted armed robbery in Ballarat earlier this morning.

A blue sedan entered a drive-thru at a fast food outlet on Victoria Street in Ballarat East about 2.20am, driving straight up to a window attended by staff.

A girl sitting in the rear passenger seat then produced a knife and demanded money.

The offenders drove off empty handed.

The girl is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged 15 to 18 years old.

Investigators believe the vehicle is a VT or VX Commodore and have been told the sedan’s rear number plate was covered with tape.
