Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery in Cohuna on Saturday evening.

Investigators have been told a man armed with a knife attended a service station on the Murray Valley Highway near Keelys Road about 5.40pm.

He made demands and fled the store with a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

The man, who had his face covered, then fled the store in what is believed to be a silver-coloured sedan.

The vehicle was last seen heading towards Leitchville on Keelys Road.
