Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery at a fast food store in Orange this morning.

About 1.45am today (Friday 30 June 2017), a man entered the store on Bathurst Street armed with a knife.

He threatened the staff and demanded cash before walking behind the counter and attempting to open a cash register.

Staff opened the register after more threats and the man stole cash before he left through a side door.

No one was injured.

He was last seen running into a paddock behind a tavern on Glenroi Avenue.

Witnesses have described the man to police as being of Aboriginal appearance and wearing a black hooded jumper, gloves and black tracksuit pants.

Police attached to the Canobolas Local Area Command have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
