A man has been charged following two alleged armed robberies at Kallangur yesterday.

It will be alleged that around 4.40pm, a man went into a takeaway shop on Anzac Avenue, approached a young female employee and ordered food.

As the employee began to prepare the order, the man allegedly went behind the counter, picked up a knife and threatened her, demanding money.

The employee complied and the man fled the premises with a sum of cash.

It will be further alleged at around 6.30pm the same man entered a licenced premise on Anzac Avenue, approached the counter and demanded money from the male store attendant.

The man allegedly indicated he had a weapon concealed under his jumper and threatened the attendant.

The store attendant complied and the man left the business with a sum of cash.

Police patrolling the area later located a man allegedly meeting the same description about to leave a licenced premise in a taxi.

He was intercepted and taken into custody without further incident.

The 23-year-old Griffin man has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and is due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court tomorrow.
