Police have charged a man following three alleged robberies in Fortitude Valley yesterday.

It will be alleged just after 3:00pm a man entered a convenience store on Ann Street, armed with a glass bottle.

The man allegedly demanded money from a male staff member before punching him. The staff member complied with the man’s demands, handing over a sum a cash before the man fled the store.

The staff member sustained a minor eye injury which did not require medical treatment.

Police will further allege at around 5:00pm a man entered a tobacco shop on Brunswick Street and demanded money from a male staff member. The man then allegedly fled the store with a sum of cash.

It will also be alleged at 6:30pm a man entered a convenience store on Brunswick Street, claiming to be armed with a knife before demanding money from a male staff member.

The staff member refused and the man then fled the store after allegedly stealing a box of lighters.

A 28-year-old Cleveland man was taken into custody in the Brunswick Street Mall at around 8:20pm.

He has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of robbery.

He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, July 8.
