Police have charged a teenager following investigations into the alleged armed robbery of a liquor store at Clayfield last night.

Just after 8pm, it will be alleged the teenager entered the store on Junction Road while discharging a fire extinguisher in the direction of the store attendant and a customer.

It will further be alleged he then walked to the store’s cold room and attempted to steal goods.

As he then allegedly attempted to leave the premises staff tackled the man to the ground.

The store attendant and a customer then detained him until police arrived soon after.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with armed robbery, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property and interfere with fire apparatus.

He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
