Northern Territory Police have charged a 37-year-old male for aggravated assault following an incident in Alice Springs yesterday.

Detective Senior Constable First Class Jan-Paul Antemes said that the assault took place at about 11:45am at a licensed venue on Gap Road.

“It is alleged that the offender assaulted a woman by striking her with two glasses,” he said.

“She sustained injuries to her face and was treated at the Alice Springs Hospital.

“A small amount of cannabis was found in the offender’s possession when he was arrested.”

He was charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Armed with an offensive weapon
  • Mid-range drink driving
  • Possess a dangerous drug.

He was remanded in custody to appear in the Alice Springs Local Count on Monday.
