Police have recovered a firearm believed to have been used in an overnight robbery at Elizabeth South.

Just after 2am on Friday 1 September, a man and woman left an Elizabeth South hotel after playing the pokies.  They walked along Chivell Street, then north on Goodman Road, towards Penfold Road.  While cutting through a reserve near the corner of Penfold Road, a man approached them, armed with a firearm.

He fired a shot into the ground, demanded their property, but left empty-handed and was last seen jumping fences towards Philip Highway.

Fortunately, there were no injuries.

The suspect is described as a man of Caucasian appearance, about 178 cm tall, wearing a dark hoodie with a skeleton or skull face and dark pants.

Police searched the area this morning and have recovered a firearm suspected of being used in this incident.
