A man has been charged after two armed robberies earlier this week.

About 10pm (Wednesday 6 September 2017), a man entered a convenience store on Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills, and threatened an employee with a firearm demanding money.

The man left the location in possession of cash.

In a second incident, about 10.45pm (Wednesday 6 September 2017), a man entered a convenience store on Bronte Road, Waverley, and threatened an employee with a firearm demanding money.

The man left the location on foot towards Victoria Street in possession of cash.

Officers from Surry Hills Local Area Command and Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command began investigating and believed both incidents were linked.

Following inquiries, about 3.45pm (Thursday 7 September 2017), a 42-year-old man was arrested at a home in Edward Street, Bondi Beach.

He was taken to Waverley Police Station where he was charged with two counts robbery while armed with dangerous weapon.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear before Central Local Court Thursday 9 November 2017.
