Police have charged a man following the alleged attempted armed robbery of a chemist at Annerley on October 17.

It will be alleged at about 9.50pm, the man entered the Ipswich Road business and requested to purchase medication.

When a staff member requested a script from the man, it is alleged the man lifted his shirt to show a large kitchen knife and told staff he did not require a receipt.

It is further alleged the man left the store a short time later without taking any property when the staff member retreated to the rear of the store.

A 36-year-old Annerley man was charged with one count of attempted armed robbery whilst armed and appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on October 18. He is next due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 6.
