A man will appear in court today after police charged him with an armed robbery at a Bankstown pharmacy in June.

About 5.30pm on Wednesday 28 June 2017, a man described as having a dark complexion, wearing a dark-coloured hooded jumper and armed with a screw driver threatened a female staff member at the West Terrace pharmacy.

A male staff member then confronted the man and suffered cuts to his face in a struggle, before the man fled on foot.

No items were stolen and the injured man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

Investigators from Bankstown Local Area Command have continued with their inquiries into the incident and about 3.30pm yesterday a 37-year-old man attended Bankstown Police Station where he was arrested.

The man was charged with aggravated assault with intent to rob causing wound.

He was refused bail and will appear at Bankstown Local Court today (Tuesday 24 October 2017).
