Police have arrested a man following the alleged armed robbery of a service station in the state’s Shoalhaven region tonight less than one hour after the incident occurred.

About 6.20pm (Sunday 3 December 2017), police were called to the business on Prince Edward Avenue, Culburra Beach, after a report a man armed with a screwdriver and machete had allegedly threatened the console operator.

Police were told the man left the store with a sum of cash.

Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command established a crime scene and began canvassing the local area, with inquiries leading them to a property in Brighton Parade.

A perimeter was established and a 20-year-old man was arrested a short time later. He has been taken to Nowra Police Station.

Inquiries are continuing.
