Police have charged a 15-year-old boy over the alleged attempted armed robbery of a convenience store at Boronia Heights yesterday morning.

It is alleged shortly after 5am yesterday a male entered the Middle Road store, produced a knife and made demands for money.

The attendant refused to hand over cash and the man left the store empty-handed.

Police arrested a 15-year-old Greenbank boy in the area a short time later and charged him with one count of attempted armed robbery.

He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 1992.
