UPDATE 4.50am 19/12 – the stolen vehicle has been located by police.

Police are investigating the overnight armed robbery of a jewellery business at Southport.

Around 10pm a man approached a male employee of the Minnie Street business with the employee believing the man was armed with a firearm.

The man stole cash and jewellery from the business before stealing the 41-year-old employee’s car and driving off.

The man is described as approximately 175cms tall with a New Zealand accent, and was wearing a black hooded jumper/jacket, black tracksuit pants and thongs.

The employee was not physically injured.

Anyone with any information in relation to this robbery, or the current whereabouts of the stolen vehicle is urged to contact police.
