Police are investigating an armed robbery at East Maitland.
Just after 9.30am today (Thursday 4 January 2018), a man entered a financial institution on George Street armed with a firearm.
The man, who had his face concealed, threatened staff while demanding money.
He fled with a sum of cash and was seen leaving the area in a white Holden Commodore driven by another man.
Police were alerted and officers from Central Hunter Local Area Command attended, established a crime scene and conducted a canvass of the area.
Investigators are appealing for public assistance to identify and locate those involved.
The man is described as being approximately 173cm tall and with a thin to medium build.
The vehicle is described as a white Holden Commodore with distinctive mag wheels. There was no registration plate on the vehicle.
Police have not been given a description of the driver.
Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
