Police are investigating an ATM robbery in Melbourne’s CBD last month.

Investigators have been told a woman in her 50s was withdrawing money at an ATM on Elizabeth Street near Bourke Street about 8.45pm on Saturday 23 December.

She was approached by a man who made demands and grabbed cash from her hand.

The victim attempted to retrieve her money but was thrown to the ground by the offender.

Her limited edition Prada wallet and its contents were also stolen during the incident.

The wallet is rectangular in shape and has orange straw huts and small green palm trees on it.

The victim’s stolen credit card was later used at a service station on Bay Street in Port Melbourne.

The offender rode off on a bicycle and the victim chased him for a short time before the man stopped and attempted to take the remainder of the woman’s cash from her hand.

A passer-by intervened and the victim escaped.

The man is described as aged in his late 20s or 30s and about 183cm tall with an athletic build, tanned complexion and long brown hair.

Investigators have released an image depicting the stolen wallet, as well as CCTV of a man who may be able to assist them with their enquiries.
