A man has been charged following an alleged attempted armed robbery of a service station south of Sydney overnight.
Police will allege, just after 3.30am (Friday 19 January 2018), a man armed with a knife entered a service station on Nolan Street in the Wollongong suburb of Berkeley, and threatened a male employee.
The employee entered a locked store room and notified police.
The man attempted to flee but was unable to open the now locked automatic doors.
Officers from Lake Illawarra attended and arrested a 21-year-old man.
He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.
The man was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 19 January 2018).
