A Munno Para man has been arrested after he allegedly robbed a deli at Smithfield this afternoon.
Just after 1pm on Tuesday 23 January a man armed with a hammer threatened staff a deli on Anderson Walk at Smithfield demanding cash and food.
The suspect fled from the shop stealing confectionery with the owner of the store giving chase assisted by a member of the public.
The suspect was eventually caught by the owner in nearby street and police arrived a short time later and arrested the man.
The 26-year-old man has been charged with aggravated robbery, he has been refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
There were no injuries in the incident.
