Detectives from the Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch have charged two men following an alleged armed robbery that occurred on Bridge Road in West Mackay on January 29.

It will be alleged around 3.50pm, a 34-year-old man made a transaction at an Automated Teller Machine and was walking back to his vehicle when he was approached by two men.

One man allegedly produced a club and a knife and the other man produced a knife. The men then allegedly threatened the 34-year-old, demanding the keys to his vehicle and the money he had just withdrawn.

The man complied, and the two offenders allegedly fled the scene in the man’s vehicle.

A 27-year-old West Mackay man was arrested on January 30 and charged with armed robbery in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle two counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, and one count each of wilful damage, fraud and trespass.

He is due to reappear in Mackay Magistrates Court this morning.

A 37-year-old North Mackay man was arrested yesterday and charged with armed robbery in company and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court this morning.
