Police have charged a man after an alleged armed robbery in Newtown last week.

About 11pm on Thursday 15 February 2018, a man entered a service station on Enmore Road, allegedly armed with a knife and imitation pistol.

He approached the counter where he threatened the 23-year-old employee, demanding cash. The employee complied and handed over an amount of cash from the till.

Following inquiries by Police from Inner West Police Area Command, a 27-year-old man was arrested about 7.30am today (Wednesday 21 February 2018).

He was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Burwood Local Court today and is due to reappear at Parramatta Local Court on 15 April 2018.
