Police have arrested a man following the armed robbery of a service station in the Lake Illawarra region on the weekend.

Just after 8pm on Sunday 25 February 2018, a man entered a service station on the Princes Highway, Unanderra, and allegedly threatened the attendant with a set of pushbike handlebars.

The attendant handed over cash and cigarettes before the man left the store on foot.

Police were contacted and a crime scene was established.

Following investigations by the Lake Illawarra Police District, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Oak Flats earlier today (Thursday 1 March 2018).

A number of items were seized by police and a 31-year-old man was arrested in Ambarvale about 11.30am by officers from the Campbelltown Police Area Command.

He has been charged with robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon and refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court tomorrow (Friday 2 March 2018).
