Police have charged a 39-year-old man with a number of offences following investigations into an armed robbery at Deception Bay this morning.

It will be alleged that around 11am, a man entered a service station located on Deception Bay Road and placed items into a backpack.

He approached the counter and placed some of the items on the counter, at which time a store attended asked him to pay for the items he placed in the bag and locked the automatic doors.

It will be further alleged the man grabbed a bottle of petrol from his bag, splashed the contents through the store, and threatened to burn the premises down.

The store attendant unlocked the doors, and the man fled the business.

Police conducted patrols of the area, and arrested a man in a nearby shopping centre.

A 39-year-old Redbank man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, possession of a knife in a public place, deprivation of liberty, and breach of bail condition.

He is due to appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court tomorrow, March 8.
