16 March 2018 – Petrol Theft – Hawthorn

Police are investigating a theft from a motor vehicle and subsequent petrol drive-off which took place last month.

An unknown male offender removed the number plates of a silver Holden parked in Rae Street, Hawthorn overnight on 23 January.

The next day, the stolen plates, XQW511, were attached to a silver Holden sedan at 7.20am in Kealba.

A man was seen putting petrol in the car before driving away from the Sunshine Avenue service station, without making payment.

Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Investigators are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
