Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an attempted armed robbery on a Burnside Heights café at the beginning of the month.

The incident occurred at the Tenterfield Road premises on Saturday 3 March just after 6pm.

Security footage shows two men arriving at the location in a stolen Nissan Maxima sedan.

One of the occupants, dressed in black with his face covered, gets out of the car and attempts to get into the café by using a hammer to smash the glass front door.

Unable to break the glass, the man gets back into the stolen vehicle and the pair flee the scene.

Investigators believe that the pair were also involved in a home invasion and an armed robbery which occurred on the previous night.

The home invasion happened in Kings Park where the Nissan Maxima and another car, a Holden Commodore, were stolen.

The stolen Commodore was then used in an armed robbery at a local hotel.

Investigators have released CCTV footage of the incident which they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries.
