A man has been charged following the armed robbery of a supermarket at Queanbeyan yesterday.
About 5pm (Saturday 24 March 2018), a man entered the store on Gilmore Place and allegedly confronted staff and threatened them with a syringe.
The man demanded money before fleeing with cash.
Police were alerted and officers from Monaro Police District attended and located the man in the backyard of a nearby home.
It’s alleged he struggled and assaulted officers before he was subdued.
The 37-year-old was arrested and taken to Queanbeyan Police Station where he was charged with multiple offences, including robbery, resist arrest and assault police.
The local man was refused bail to appear at Queanbeyan Bail Court today (Sunday 25 March 2018).
