Police have arrested a man following an armed robbery at a Docklands business overnight.

It is alleged a man, armed with a metal pole, attended a fast-food outlet on Batman Hill Drive about 11.40pm.

The man assaulted a staff member, before fleeing the scene with an amount of cash.

The male staff member was treated on scene for minor injuries.

Police arrested a man, with the assistance of the Dog Squad, in the vicinity of Southern Cross train station and a Bourke Street sports venue shortly after 1.30am this morning.

The man, a 33-year-old from St Kilda, has been charged with armed robbery, theft from motor vehicle and criminal damage.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this morning.
