Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad are continuing to investigate an alleged armed robbery at a firearms store in Thornbury earlier this year.

The incident occurred at the High Street premises shortly after 11am on 29 January.

A number of firearms were stolen during the incident and all of these have since been recovered.

On 5 February six men were arrested by police as part of the investigation into the incident and three were subsequently charged.

The remaining three were released pending further enquiries.

Detectives believe there are a number of people involved in the incident who are yet to be identified and are appealing for public information to assist with the investigation.

One man is described as wearing a blue jumper, navy and white striped Adidas tracksuit pants, white runners and a white covering on his head.

He was also carrying a handgun during the incident.

A second man is described as wearing a dark jumper, dark pants and white runners and was wearing a dark blue covering on his head and carrying a dark blue bag at the time of the incident.

Police believe a sledgehammer and a crowbar were also used by the offenders during this armed robbery.

Searches were conducted in the area by police from the Search and Rescue Squad, however they were unable to locate the items.

Detectives are also searching for a white Volkswagen that was seen in the Thornbury area shortly after the incident.

It’s believed a number of people connected to the alleged armed robbery left the area in this vehicle after the incident.

Investigators have released CCTV footage of the Volkswagen they are trying to locate, which shows it following closely behind a white Toyota Kluger that was found dumped on Clapham Street shortly after the incident.

Police are urging anyone with information about those involved or the vehicle to come forward, and are also keen to speak to anyone with any other information about the alleged armed robbery.

An 18-year-old Chadstone man was charged with armed robbery, theft of firearms, possess traffickable quantity of firearms and prohibited person possess firearms.

A 20-year-old Docklands man was charged with theft of firearms, possess traffickable quantity of firearms, prohibited person possess firearms and handle stolen goods.

A 20-year-old Wallan man was charged with armed robbery, theft of firearms, possess traffickable quantity of firearms and non-prohibited person possess firearm.

A 20-year-old Craigieburn man, 19-year-old Dallas man and 25-year-old Craigieburn man arrested were released pending further enquiries.
