Altona North Embona Armed Robbery Taskforce investigators have charged a second man and a woman following a series of armed robberies in Melbourne’s west.

It is alleged a man armed with a firearm robbed a number of stores in the Altona and Hoppers Crossing areas on 18 and 19 April.

A 41-year-old Altona man was arrested in Werribee yesterday and charged with three counts of armed robbery.

He was also charged with aggravated burglary, false imprisonment, assault-related offences and attempted carjacking following alleged incidents in Yarraville and West Footscray on 30 April.

The man has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 13 July.

A 30-year-old Point Cook woman was arrested in Werribee today and charged with two counts of armed robbery.

She faced an out of sessions hearing and was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

A 39-year-old Werribee man was previously arrested on 19 April and charged with three counts of armed robbery.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 13 July.
