Yarra detectives have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery and assault in which the victim lost the sight in his right eye.

The incident took place in the bathroom of licensed premises in Melbourne on 17 February.

The victim told police, that while in the bathroom, a man allegedly demanded cash and produced a weapon.

The victim was allegedly assaulted by the man which resulted in permanent blindness in his right eye.

Police have charged a 22-year-old Heidelberg man with armed robbery and recklessly cause serious injury.

He has been remanded to Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 8 May.
