Police have released an image of a man that may be able to assist with investigations after a taxi driver was robbed in Woolloomooloo.

A man hailed a cab on King Street, Sydney, about 10.30am on Tuesday 15 May 2018 and requested to be driven to Woolloomooloo.

After being driven to Pring Street, he produced a knife and demanded cash.

The driver complied and handed over a small amount of cash, before a struggle ensued during which the taxi driver received cuts on his hand.

The man ran from location with the cash.

Officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the incident and have a released an image of a man that may be able to assist.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of slim build, with brown hair and a beard.

He was last seen wearing a grey jacket and a black and white cap.

Anyone with information or that is able to identify the man depicted in the images is urged to contact Kings Cross Police via Crime Stoppers.
