UPDATE – CCTV recording available.

Investigations conducted by detectives at the Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch have identified CCTV footage from a grocery store on Bridge Road in West Mackay taken a very short time after the alleged incident in Kay Court happened.  Police believe the male person in these images may be able to assist with this investigation.

At 7.57 pm on Thursday, June 21 a blue Mazda hatch with false registration plates attached – 313 WLB -entered the drive-thru of a fast food outlet on Kay Court in Mount Pleasant.

It is alleged the Mazda did not stop at the intercom and instead drove to the first service window.

The driver was the only occupant and demanded the staff member hand over the money in the till.

It’s alleged the driver was in possession of an unknown 30-centimetre-long cylindrical object which was concealed under clothing.

The staff member immediately left the service window and sought help.

As a result the Mazda was driven away from the area at high speed.

Nobody was injured during the incident and nothing has been stolen.

The driver of the Mazda is described as follows:

  • Appearance: male, approximately 20 years of age, dark hair, dark eyes, dark complexion, skinny build.
  • Clothing: wearing a teal (blue/green) beanie, black and white bandana worn over the bottom of his face, grey jumper with hoodie pulled over the top of the head.
  • Noticeably deep voice.

Police are encouraging residents to examine the images from the CCTV of the Mazda above.
