Police have charged a man and a boy following the alleged armed robbery of a man at Birkdale this afternoon.

Around 4.15pm, police will allege two males confronted the man at a shopping centre on Mary Pleasant Drive before producing a knife and stealing a sum of cash.

It is further alleged the two then fled the scene on foot but were located by police a short time later.

No was one injured during the incident.

An 18-year-old Redbank Plains man is charged with one count of armed robbery and is expected to appear in the Cleveland Magistrates Court on June 25.

A 17-year-old Northgate boy is charged with one count each of armed robbery and going armed to cause fear.
