Police have arrested a man following an attempted armed robbery in Frenchs Forest this morning.

Just before 11am (Wednesday 11 July 2018), a man armed with a baton, allegedly threatened a staff member at a convenience store on Frenchs Forest Road East, before leaving the area.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command, with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit, established a perimeter and conducted an extensive search of the area.

A 20-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Manly Police Station where he is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation has been launched into the incident.
