Maryborough detectives investigating the attempted armed robbery of a convenience store in Torquay yesterday afternoon have released images of a man who may be able to assist police with their enquiries.

At around 3:30pm a man entered the business on Cypress Street carrying a metal bar.

The man demanded cash from a male staff member, who refused, before the man fled the location in a white older-model Toyota Hilux utility.

No one was physically injured during the attempted robbery.

The man (pictured) is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 30-40 years of age, of a medium build with short brown hair and was last seen wearing a black leather jacket with white stripes down the front, camouflage knee-length shorts and dark sunglasses.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
