Detectives from the Logan District Robbery Taskforce have charged a man following ongoing investigations into the alleged attempted robbery of a Crestmead grocery store on June 28.

It will be alleged that shortly before 8pm, a man entered the business on Julie Street armed with a small axe.

He allegedly threatened the attendant with the axe and demanded cash before the attendant then threw a number of cans of tuna at him.

The man fled the scene on foot empty-handed.

No one was physically injured as a result.

A 23-year-old Kingston man was today arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery and two counts of fraud.

He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow (September 13).
