A youth has been charged following an alleged armed robbery at Belmore overnight.

About 9pm yesterday (Friday 19 October 2018), a 16-year-old boy entered a restaurant on Knox Street, Belmore, before allegedly threatening two workers with a knife, demanding cash.

He was given cash and ran out of the store, north along Knox Street.

Staff ran into the street calling for help and a bystander flagged down a passing police vehicle.

Police chased the teen and arrested him in Hugh Street.

He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court today (Saturday 20 October 2018).
