Police have charged a man over the violent armed robbery of a licensed premises at Greenbank on December 1.

It will be alleged at 3.39am on Saturday, two masked men entered a tavern on Pub Lane, one armed with a hammer and the other with a shotgun.

It is further alleged that the men demanded cash from three employees – a 27-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman and their 26-year-old male supervisor – before one of the men struck the 26-year- supervisor in the head with the hammer.

The 26-year-old sustained a minor head injury and was transported to hospital in a stable condition. The other two employees were uninjured.

The armed men then allegedly fled the address in a vehicle, with a substantial amount of cash.

Around 11.30pm that night (Saturday December 1), police located a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander at Scott Lane, North Maclean, which had been allegedly stolen from a Harvey Bay residence around 2.50pm on November 29.

At the time, the vehicle was bearing incorrect registration plates, which had allegedly been stolen from a maroon 1998 Ford Falcon at Marsden on June 20.

It will be alleged that outside the vehicle, police located approximately half the cash stolen during the armed-robbery at Greenbank.
