Melbourne Embona detectives are investigating an armed robbery in North Melbourne last month.

Investigators have been told a man entered the Flemington Road hotel on 15 December about 9.45pm.

Once inside the foyer of the building, the man approached a female staff member at the counter and made demands for cash.

It is believed the man was in possession of a concealed weapon at the time however he did not produce it during the incident.

No one was injured and the man fled the scene on foot.

The offender is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged 30 to 40-years-old and about 171cm tall with a shaved head.

He was wearing a grey jumper and track pants with white runners and a baseball cap on backwards.

Police have released CCTV and a computer generated image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
