An Elizabeth East man will appear in court today following an alleged armed robbery at Elizabeth Downs tavern last night.

Just after 9pm on Thursday 10 January, patrols were called to a hotel on Midway Road, after a man armed with a machete threatened staff in the bottle-shop and left with an amount of cash from the till. Thankfully no one was physically injured.

Patrols quickly converged on the area and located the suspect a short time later nearby on Seatown Road and identified from the CCTV security vision from the tavern.

The 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery he was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
