On the 12th of January 2019 two armed robberies were committed in the Launceston area.  The first occurred at 3.45pm in Invermay at the Invermay Newsagency.  The second 15 minutes later at the Pizza Hut at Mowbray.

Launceston CIB continue to investigate these robberies that occurred between 3.45pm and 4.05pm on Saturday the 12th of January 2019.

Det Insp. John Parker said that the robbery at the Invermay News and Lotto involved the offender mencacing staff with a screw driver and demanding monies. The robbery at the Mowbray Pizza Hut 20 minutes later, involved the same offender menacing staff with a machete and him stealing a small quantity of money.

Acting Det Insp. John Parker stated that police had identified Shaun Andrew Blake aged 40 years of age, of an unknown address in Launceston, as a person that they wish to speak to in relation to the matter. Det Insp Parker said that despite extensive efforts by police to locate Mr Blake, he has not been located and that police are seeking the assistance of the public to locate him. “It would be best if Mr Blake was able to contact police and I urge him to do that as soon as possible” Det. Insp Parker said.
